Lifeboat launched to assist in search for missing car

Douglas RNLI lifeboat was launched last night to assist in a search for a missing car.

The Coastguard asked if the lifeboat could conduct a search from Douglas Head as far south as Port Soderick as it was feared that the missing car may have gone over the edge of the Marine Drive.

In a strong wind and rough sea the RNLI all-weather lifeboat Marine Engineer was launched under the command of volunteer Coxswain Neal Corran to assist the Coastguards who were already on the Marine Drive.

At 11.28pm the Coastguard advised that the car had been located elsewhere at which time the lifeboat was stood down to return to station to be re-housed and made ready again for service.
