Farmer's Union Wants Government Subsidy To Keep Food Affordable

The President of the Manx National Farmer’s Union wants to see Government subsidies so farmers can help to keep food affordable to consumers.

Brian Brumby has made his comments ahead of a Tynwald debate on extra drought aid for farmers who've been affected by this summer's hot and dry weather.

Mr Brumby says Manx people spend 8% of their income on food now, compared to around 40% fifty years ago.
