Have your say on future sea services
People on the Isle of Man are being urged to use their voice and make their feelings about sea services known.
The results will help shape the new Sea Services Agreement, which will replace the current User Agreement under ownership of the Steam Packet Company.
Since being introduced in 1995, the user agreement handed the Steam Packet a virtual monopoly, but did require special offer fares, reduced the frequency of delays in the delivery of commodity cargos and specified requirements for the provision of new vessels. This agreement did make it impossible for any rival service to be viable.
On approving the Isle of Man Government’s decision to buy the Steam Packet Company in May 2018, Tynwald agreed that a new agreement would be signed between the Department of Infrastructure and Steam Packet.
