Former Strix Chairman Eddie Davies passes away
A well known Island businessman and philanthropist who was Chairman of Island based Strix from 1984 to 2006 has died.
72 year old Eddie Davies passed away while on holiday with his wife Sue.
A statement released by the family’s solicitor read: “It is with great sadness that Sue Davies and family announce the death of Eddie Davies CBE today, 11th September. Eddie passed away during the night whilst on holiday in Portugal. The family would be grateful if their privacy could be respected at this time.”
Mr Davies was the owner of Bolton Wanderers F.C. until March 2016, when Dean Holdsworth fronted a consortium to take over the club.
He also donated considerable sums of money to charity which earned him the CBE in 2011.
