Douglas lifeboat assists yacht with tangled sails

Douglas lifeboat was called out to help a yacht after its sails became entangled.

The 36ft vessel was in Douglas Bay when it encountered the problem and tried to use its motor to get back to the harbour, but struggled with the brisk offshore wind.

As a result, the lifeboat launched just before 12.30pm yesterday while the yacht sought shelter.

The stricken vessel managed to make its way back to the harbour under its own power with an escort from the lifeboat before arriving at the visitor's berth on Battery Pier.
