Nine new marine nature reserves from September
The Isle of Man will have nine new marine nature reserves from September.
The new areas have been designated in addition to the Ramsey Bay nature reserve, which has held its status since 2011.
The additions will mean over 10 percent of the Island's territorial sea is covered by reserves, as well as more than half of the inshore waters.
The reserves provide special protection to a number of species, including horse mussel reefs and eel grass beds, as well as safeguarding nursery areas.
The new nature reserves areas will include Douglas Bay, Langness and Niarbyl Bay.
