New First Deemster appointed

Andrew Corlett has been appointed as Her Majesty's First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls in the Isle of Man.

Deemster Corlett, who has served as the Island's Second Deemster since 2011, takes over from Deemster David Doyle, who is stepping down at the end of this month.

Deemster Corlett spent 17 years in private practice before being appointed as Deputy Deemster in 2007 and Deemster in 2009.

The appointment has been made by the Queen following the recommendation of a local selection panel.
