Child abuse committee calls for further submissions

The Tynwald committee looking into child abuse at a former children's home is urging anyone who has been abused to come forward.

Tynwald voted to extend the remit of the Social Affairs Policy Review inquiry into the abuse last month, meaning the committee can now consider cases not related to Knottfield.

Chairman of the committee David Cretney MLC says all victims deserve to be listened to, but warns the committee is not a substitute for the police and cannot offer professional counselling or legal advice.

However, the committee will listen to all evidence, and will not publish submissions without the consent of the individual concerned.

Details of how to make a submission to the committee can be found on the Tynwald website.
