Fire crews tackle range of incidents

The Island's Fire and Rescue Service had a busy weekend after being called to a range of incidents around the Island.

Crews from Port Erin and Castletown were needed to help a person trapped under a car, using lifting equipment to free the casualty before they were transferred to an ambulance.

Firefighters from Douglas tackled a wheelie bin and fence fire in Onchan caused by an electronic cigarette being thrown into the bin, and the weight of the rubbish causing it to switch on and overheat.

Teams were also needed to free a casualty from a car crash and rescue a child trapped in a park bench.
