Government aiming to end child hunger

The Chief Minister says the Manx Government is working to ensure child hunger on the Isle of Man becomes a thing of the past.

Howard Quayle confirmed work is underway to tackle cold, hunger and homelessness in a bid to ensure no child goes hungry on the Island.

Garff MHK Daphne Caine put a question to Mr Quayle at this month's sitting of Tynwald about the extra demand on foodbanks over the school holidays.

The Chief Minister revealed the Government is working with the foodbank to ensure the charity can cope with the increased demand over the summer.

Last year, the Isle of Man Food Bank saw a 28% increase in demand when school closed for the summer.
