ACU announces independent Mercer inquiry
The organisers of the TT have announced there'll be an independent inquiry into the collision between Steve Mercer and a course car.
Mercer remains in hospital in Liverpool following the incident at Ballacrye in practice week.
ACU Events Ltd announced former chief executive of the Motorsports Association and lawyer Rob Jones will lead the investigation.
A separate investigation is already underway by Manx authorities.
This inquiry will investigate the events around the incident, the lessons to be learnt and make recommendations for the future.
The ACU has also confirmed it's providing financial assistance to Mercer's family so his wife is able to stay near the hospital while he receives treatment.
