Lifeboat called out to help sinking RIB

Port St Mary lifeboat were called out to help three people whose rigid inflatable boat was in danger of sinking.

A member of the public raised the alarm after spotting a boat sinking from the breakwater.

The lifeboat crew found the boat had been tied alongside the breakwater but was taking on a lot of water and sinking rapidly.

The team applied the salvage pump and worked for an hour to keep the vessel afloat.

The RNLI team is urging anyone planning a trip to respect the water and do regular checks on the vessel and equipment.
