Horse trams make £483,000 loss

The Department of Infrastructure made a loss of almost £500,000 running the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway last year.

Revenue generated by the horse trams during the 2017-18 season was £142,703 while the running costs were £626,002 giving a deficit of over £483,000.

The costs include the purchase of assets from Douglas Borough Council, horse tram refurbishment and out of season running costs from April last year until the end of March this year.

The figures were revealed in response to a Freedom of Information request.
