Amber warning for snow, rain, coastal overtopping

An amber weather warning is in place until this evening with hill snow, heavy rain and coastal overtopping all forecast.

The Met Office at Ronaldsway is warning there could be localised flooding across the Island, snow in areas above 800ft and waves coming over the sea walls at Ramsey, Laxey and Douglas.

The Mountain Road is closed due to snow making driving conditions treacherous, and police expect it will remain shut for most of the day, although it will be reviewed periodically.

The weather warning remains in place until 6pm.
