Planning permission sought for school gardens

The Government wants to use the site of a former pub to create gardening space for school children.

The Department of Infrastructure is hoping to create 20 raised beds at the former Farmers Arms site in St John's so that pupils can make garden displays.

The gardens will be open for the public to view with a Manx-themed central garden in addition to the children's work.

The site would be temporary, with garden being built by schools in June before the area is returned to its current state next February.

The project is part of the Government's 2018 Year of Our Island campaign.
