First Deemster to stand down

The Island's First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls David Doyle will stand down from his Office later this year.

Government House confirmed The Queen approved the request from Deemster Doyle to leave his position at the end of July.

Deemster Doyle is returning to private practice, having agreed to join Cains Advocates as a senior lawyer within the company's litigation department.

He was appointed as First Deemster in 2010 after spending a year as Acting First Deemster, and previously held the Office of Second Deemster.
