Pupil suspension days almost double in five years

The number of schools days missed due to pupils being suspended has almost doubled since 2013.

Last year, students from the Island's schools were suspended for a total of 1195 days, compared with 677 five years ago.

Two-day suspensions made up almost 45% of the days missed, while just eight days involved primary school pupils.

The figures were revealed by the Education Minister in this week's sitting of the House of Keys.
