Government launches consultation on financial crimes legislation
The Government is seeking feedback on plans to introduce greater sanctions against those who commit financial crimes on the Isle of Man.
The Department of Home Affairs has launched a public consultation on its Anti-Money Laundering and Other Financial Crime Bill.
The Bill proposes bringing in a higher level of financial sanctions for not allowing law enforcement authorities access to information, and allowing crimes which were operated from abroad to be prosecuted in Manx courts.
The Government says the changes will also enhance the Island's compliance with global standards on anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism.
The DHA wants to hear views from members of the public and businesses on the proposals. Feedback can be submitted through the consultation section of the Government's website until February 5th.
