Cavendish confirmed for Tour de Yorkshire

Manx cyclist Mark Cavendish will take part in next year's Tour de Yorkshire.

The former road race world champion's participation was announced as the route for the four-day event was unveiled today.

The race will take place between the 3rd and 6th of May, and will go through Doncaster, Barnsley and Scarborough, before finishing in the centre of Leeds.

The event is a legacy of the 2014 Tour de France, which held its Grand Depart in Yorkshire.

It will be the first time Cavendish has raced at the event, which was founded in 2015.
