Nearly 85% of orthopaedic patients still waiting for appointment

Nearly 85% of the patients on the Island's waiting list of orthopaedics services are yet to receive an appointment.

Just 98 of the 649 people who need treatment from the service have been given an appointment.

However, the Department of Health and Social Care believes it will have almost 1500 appointments available for new patients in the next six months.

Orthopaedics treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including trauma, sports injuries, spinal injuries and degenerative diseases.
