Lifeboat helps injured yachtsman after beach search
Douglas lifeboat crew was called out twice to deal with two incidents off the coast of the Island's capital.
The lifeboat was launched shortly before 11pm yesterday following reports of a person entering the sea.
The team used parachute flares to illuminate the area, searching between the Tower of Refuge and Palace Hotel, but were stood down after an hour without finding anyone.
After returning to the lifeboat station, the team was immediately sent to the aid of a yachtsman, who had injured his shoulder while making his way to Douglas.
The man was the only person on his vessel, and was unable to work the yacht's sails after slipping and injuring his shoulder 10 miles east of Douglas.
The lifeboat found the yacht shortly before 1am, securing a tow to bring the vessel to the harbour, arriving at Battery Pier shortly after 2.30am.
