DoI approves Commissioners' Ramsey Courthouse purchase

Ramsey Town Commissioners' acquisition of Ramsey Courthouse has been formally approved.

The local authority has received notification from the Department of Infrastructure that its offer to purchase the Courthouse and grounds from the Department of Home Affairs has now been finalised.

The Commissioners will pay £80,000 and allow the police to use their office in Ramsey Town Hall for the nominal fee of £1 on a 25-year agreement.

The building, which was previously used as a post office, was placed on the open market earlier this year, but the Commissioners expressed an interest in taking it over to keep it in public ownership.
