Steam Packet offer rejected in Tynwald

The Steam Packet Company's proposals for the future of the Island's sea services have been rejected by Tynwald.

The Island's parliament supported Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer, who wanted members to note the offer but dismiss it while continuing to negotiate for a better deal.

Mr Harmer wants to continue to discuss options with other operators as well as the Steam Packet to ensure the Government secures the right deal for the Island.

However, the Steam Packet indicated that it's current offer, which included commitment to bring in new vessels, would be taken off the table if not approved by Tynwald.

The Steam Packet's current deal expires in 2026.
