Help sign on beach leads to coastguard call-out

Douglas Coastguard was called out last night after a help sign was spotted on one of the Island's beaches.

Someone had spelled out the word help in rubbish on the beach between Keristal and Little Ness, which can only be accessed by the sea.

The coastguard lowered a cliff technician to the scene from Marine Drive to see if anyone was in need of assistance.

However, the team stood down after searching the beach and surrounding area, having ensured no-one was in difficulty.
