New LegCo voting rules to be used for first time
New rules for electing Members of the Legislative Council will be used for the first time today.
Three candidates are standing in the election for the seat left vacant by Tony Wild's retirement earlier this year.
The public will know who each MHK votes for for the first time, while a candidate can be elected with a simple majority, rather than 13 votes or more.
Government worker Alan Wright, solicitor Jane Poole-Wilson and Paul Beckett, who also comes from the legal sector, are the candidates hoping the fill the vacancy.
The House of Keys meets at 2.30pm.
