Fire crews called to blaze at former bakery

Fire crews spent around 90 minutes tackling a blaze at a building in Douglas.

Officers were called out shortly after 3.30pm yesterday to a former bakery on Grosvenor Road, with thick black smoke coming from the first floor window.

Firefighters needed thermal image cameras and breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control before putting it out.

The team remained on the scene until around 5pm cutting away insulating material to ensure the fire hadn't spread.
