Feedback sought on telematic insurance for teen drivers

The Island's roads police are asking the Manx public whether teenage drivers should have system fitted to their cars to monitor their speed.

The Roads Policing Unit are particularly keen to know if parents of 16-year-old drivers would be interested in telematic insurance policies.

The policies include a device fitted to the car which monitors the quality of the driving.

Police say the device would focus on speed, alerting an insurance company if a restricted driver exceeded 60mph, cancelling the policy after three strikes.

Officers insist the information would not be passed to the police and the young drivers wouldn't be prosecuted.

The poll can be found on the RPU's Facebook page.
