Commissioners back cycling road safety campaign

One of the Island's local authorities is supporting a campaign calling for a new law to protect cyclists.

Garff Commissioners are working with Safe Cycling Isle of Man to call for legislation making motorists leave at least 1.5m between their vehicles and cyclists.

The campaign was launched following the death of Garff resident Kate Burge, who died after being struck by a car while cycling in 2014.

It's believed increasing the distance between cyclists and other vehicles on the road would improve road safety and encourage more people to use bicycles on the Island's roads.
