Government appoints animal and plant health director
The Government has appointed a vet to the new role of Director of Animal and Plant Health.
Alistair Breed, who has 24-years experience working as a Veterinary Officer within the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, takes up the post.
The job includes the role of Chief Veterinary Officer as well as taking charge of plant health.
DEFA says it hopes the new role with give clearer focus to an area which had previously been split between several areas of the Department.
Mr Breed will be in charge of the Island's animal health and welfare, plus disease prevention and control in plants.
