Committee to ask for changes to care home funding

A report into the funding of nursing and residential care on the Isle of Man will be discussed at this month's sitting of Tynwald.

A select committee looking into how such services are funded will make a number of recommendations.

Chris Robertshaw, who chaired the committee, will ask Tynwald to establish a separate fund to support nursing and residential care, with the fund looked after by independent trustees.

The Douglas East MHK will also call for ways to use someone's assets to fund their care, as well as identifying a new income stream for care homes.

Tynwald will be asked to approve the recommendations when it sits next week.
