Fundraiser nominated for award

A hospice nurse from the Isle of Man is on the shortlist for an award handed out by a British charity.

Eugene Wilson has been raising money for Anthony Nolan since 2005 after losing daughter Lisa to leukaemia.

Mr Wilson has run 10 marathons, trekked the Great Wall of China and organised a number of events in the Island, raising over £50,000.

The 55-year-old is nominated for the Shirley Nolan Award for Special Recognition at the charity's annual supporter awards, which will be handed out at the House of Commons later this month.

Anthony Nolan helps match blood cancer patients with potential stem cell donors and provides support for patients after transplants.
