Manx inventor injured in plane crash

Manx inventor John Taylor is recovering after suffering a broken arm in an aeroplane crash.

Dr Taylor was flying from Ronaldsway to Fairoaks in Surrey at the weekend when he was forced to make an emergency landing in a field.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch is investigating the incident, which came after the 79-year-old heard a loud bang.

Dr Taylor, who was awarded an OBE in 2011, is best known for his work with electric kettles and thermostats, with his Strix business holding over 600 patents.

The entrepreneur is also known for his horology work, having been awarded the Harrison Medal by the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers last year.
