MHK calls for free TV licences for over 75s
A newly-elected MHK will ask Tynwald to consider reinstating free television licences for the over 75s.
David Ashford believes those aged 75 and above shouldn't have to pay for the licence, while those who have recently done so should receive a refund.
The Douglas North MHK also wants the Government to seek a new funding agreement with the BBC, similar to those already in place in the UK.
Over 75s have had to pay for TV licences in the Isle of Man since September 1st, but they remain free to those in the same age group across.
Chief Minister Howard Quayle was among a number of candidates to voice support for free TV licences for over 75s in his election manifesto.
Tynwald will sit for the first time since the recent election next Tuesday.
