Liberal Vannin leader announce Chief Minister candidacy

The Leader of the Liberal Vannin Party, Kate Beecroft, has announced she intends to run for Chief Minister.

Mrs Beecroft, who was re-elected as one of the MHK’s for Douglas South, broke the news on the Liberal Vannin Facebook Page.

She said: "I am sure that Party members and followers will be pleased to know that I have decided to join in the contest for Chief Minister."

Other names associated with the race include Middle MHK Howard Quayle, Rushen MHK Laurence Skelly and Ayre & Michael's Alf Cannan. Energy FM Sources say that Juan Watterson is also thought to be considering running.

Tynwald will elect the Chief Minister on Tuesday 4th October at a special sitting of the Court.
