Pharmacy treatment scheme sees 136% increase

The number of people seeking treatment for minor injuries and illnesses at pharmacies on the Isle of Man has more than doubled over the last two years.

Since 2014 almost 2,000 people having been treated by pharmacists as part of the Department of Health and Social Care's Minor Ailment Scheme, which is a 136% increase.

The scheme was launched in 2007 to make it quicker and easier for those suffering from minor complaints to get treatment without having to wait for a GP's appointment.

Patients can seek advice for a number of issues at pharmacies on the Island, including toothache, hayfever and shingles.
