New primary school opens doors

Around 300 children have been attending the Island's newest school for the first time this week.

The Henry Bloom Noble Primary School on Westmoreland Road in Douglas opened its doors when schools returned from the annual summer break on Wednesday.

The facility cost £9.5m to construct, and includes 14 classrooms, a special needs unit and sports facilities, which will also be available to community groups.

The school, which is on the site of the old Noble's Hospital, replaces the nearby Ballacloan Infants and Fairfield Junior Schools.
