Track plans changed as horse trams find favour with Tynwald

Changing the length of the horse tram tracks on Douglas Promenade would 'tie' the hands of the next government minister.

That's the view of South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey who successfully asked Tynwald to amend the Department of Infrastructure's proposals concerning the future of the service.

As part of plans put forward this week the department wanted to shorten the route so trams ran between Derby Castle and the War Memorial.

Mr Malarkey's resolution - to change them to take in the full length of the promenade - was supported; he says with the current administration coming to an end it wouldn't have been fair:
