Sidecar racer suffered massive blunt force trauma

A sidecar racer who died during the last Sidecar Race of TT 2016 suffered massive blunt force trauma.

58-year-old Ian Bell was racing with his son Carl when the duo crashed at Ballaspur on June 10th.

The inquest into the Northumberland man's death was opened at Douglas Courthouse yesterday - a post-mortem revealed he suffered trauma to his head, neck and thorax.

Coroner of Inquests John Needham released his body so funeral arrangements can take place - the inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
