Teenager tops the polls to become youngest ever elected

A teenager who topped the polls in the local authority election in Laxey last night could inspire others into politics.

That's the message from the Chief Minister who's congratulated the 18-year-old after he took 85 per cent of the vote to secure his seat as a commissioner.

Six areas went to the polls to elect new commissioners and councillors in Douglas, Castletown, Peel, Patrick and Port St Mary.
