Planning sought to change Carnival pub into retail unit

Planning permission is being sought to change an empty pub in Douglas into a new retail unit.

Heron and Brearley has applied for approval to change the use of Carnival on Strand Street and to remove the building's classification as a public house.

The venue - which was formally home to Rendezvous and Strand 58 - was opened as Carnival in 2013 but put up for sale last year.

Heron and Brearley marketed the pub, asking for offers in the region of over £1 million, before the planning application was submitted - it's currently pending consideration.
