Island to host elite cycling competition

World-class riders will compete here to help continue Manx cycling prestige.
 
Steve Shimmin from Isle of Man Cycling Events - which is hosting elite sports men and women at the first Manx International Cycling grand Prix. 
 
He says the Island's organisational capability has fallen behind the performance of our athletes. 
 
There hasn't been an event on this scale for the sport in over a decade - men will race three laps, and women two laps of the TT course.
 
Steve added that it's hoped the race will aid the Island's GB National Championships bid.
 
Although road closures are in force, pedestrian access will continue as normal - Mr Shimmin explains what fans can expect to see:
