Incapacity claims refuted as 'misconceptions'

Alarming 'misconceptions' over how people on incapacity benefits are being assessed have been refuted.

The Social Security division of Treasury says the assessments - carried out by Dependability Ltd - are not 'tick box' exercises.

The Manx Labour Party and Liberal Vannin have both aired concerns about the impact it's having on vulnerable people - especially those with mental health and addiction problems.

It's also been suggested that assessors aren't suitably qualified - MLC Bill Henderson wants to put a stop to it:
