Police recruits to deter crime-ridden New Year

New police recruits will ensure we won't see a crime-ridden start to the New Year.

The Department of Home Affairs says 10 new student officers could help keep residents from another burglary epidemic similar to that which was witnessed at the start of next year.

They've been set duties like investigating crime, arresting and interviewing suspects, and dealing with traffic issues.

45 crimes were recorded between January and March of this year - Juan Watterson says there's been a vast improvement since then:
