Scam caller warning after police are targeted

Police are urging people to be on their guard against scam callers after being the target of one themselves.

Yesterday someone called Police Headquarters claiming to be 'technical support' from a well-known software company.

The caller claims computers are infected or malfunctioning and that they're offering remote support - they then ask for bank details for payment.

Officers say the calls appear plausible but are warning people not to give out their details - they say their caller hung up when they were told they'd actually phoned the police.
