Public opinion on coastline ignored by DEFA, says MHK

Concerns have been raised that government is ignoring public opinion about the future of the Island's coastline.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is compiling a new national coastal strategy looking at cultural, environmental, amenity and economic factors.

It's in a bid to combat climate and weather events - however Michael MHK Alf Cannan is angry there are no plans to consult people before a draft document is drawn up.

However Minister Richard Ronan has disputed his concerns saying this is the right way forward:
