MHK wants increased fees for off licences

Should off-licences selling large volumes of alcohol pay a higher application fee?

That's the question being asked by Onchan MHK Peter Karran in the first Tynwald sitting after the summer recess. 
 
Under his proposals the revenue generated would be ring fenced for the front line services which deal with alcohol related issues and incidents.
 
The Liberal Vannin member says the favourable tax system has allowed the supermarkets to exploit the situation and drop their prices drastically:
