Castletown murderer lodges appeal against conviction

A former Castletown resident who was found guilty of murdering his wife's lover has lodged an appeal against his conviction.

In April a jury found Ian Anderson guilty of murdering Ballabeg man Neil Roberts in 2013.

The 60-year-old's body was found at Anderson's home on Queen Street in the early hours of December 1st.

Following the five week trial the 46-year-old was sentenced to life in prison - with a minimum term of 15 years.

Appearing at the Appeal Court yesterday Anderson's advocate told the court the trial had been "unfair" and invited the presiding deemsters to quash the conviction.

The appeal hearing continues at Douglas Courthouse today.
