Two new MHK's elected following closely fought by-elections

Two new MHKs were elected into the House of Keys last night after two very closely fought battles for the Glenfaba and Peel seat.

Geoffrey Boot secured the Glenfaba seat, triumphing over David Talbot by just three votes, with 424; he'll now replace David Anderson who's elevation to the Legislative Council brought about the by election.

In Peel it was local commissioner Ray Harmer who won, securing 799 votes beating fellow hopeful Leslie Hanson into second place by 183 votes.

Again the Peel by election was held following outgoing MHK Tim Crookall's successful bid to become an MLC.

The men will hold their posts for a guaranteed 12 month period before the Island wide general election to be held next September.
