Stop speculation over dog bite incident say police

People are being urged not to speculate, or "apportion blame", after a child was bitten by a dog at the weekend.

Police had appealed for witnesses after the incident which took place on Ballakermeen Avenue on Sunday.

The owner of the dog has now come forward but officers still want to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

The child was not seriously injured - police say the investigation will be carried out without bias and with "an open mind".
