Animal charity wants "paper trail" for imported puppies

The Island needs to introduce a law to stop people importing puppy farmed puppies into the Isle of Man.

That's the message from the ManxSPCA which has been discussing the issue at a Tynwald committee looking into animal welfare.

The animals - which often have health and behavioural issues - are typically cheaper and are normally brought here in the back of a van from Ireland. 

Sanctuary manager Lyn Renshaw says things like checking the ports could help and there needs to be some form of paper trail:
